Board of Directors

Based on the independent international jury’s proposals, the Foundation’s Board of Directors is responsible for deciding on award winners, prize amounts, and the time and place for announcing the year’s laureate.

Anne Ramberg

Anne Ramberg is a lawyer and former Secretary General of the Swedish Bar Association, Co-Chair of the International Bar Association Human Rights Institute, Board Member of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, Board Member of the Southern African Litigation Center, Civil Right Defenders, etc.

Current assignments include being a substitute judge for Sweden in the European Court of Human Rights, mediator and alternate member of the Bureau of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) Court of Mediation and Arbitration, Chairman of the Board of Uppsala University, Chairman of the Board of the Expo Foundation and Board member of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute and Vice Chairman of the Swedish Forestry Society.

Lars Hjalmar Wide

Lars-Hjalmar Wide studied at the Stockholm School of Economics and joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1975. After postings in Havana, Madrid and the Political Department of the Ministry, he became Counsellor to the Ambassador in Tel Aviv and at the Swedish UN Representation in New York. After senior posts at the MFA, Mr. Wide was Director General of the Swedish Inspectorate for Strategic Products and, from 2005 to 2006, Chef de Cabinet to the President of the UN General Assembly. He then became the Ministry’s Chief of Protocol and in 2007 was appointed His Majesty the King’s First Marshal. From 2011-19, Mr. Wide was Ambassador to Pakistan, to the Holy See and to Madrid.

Maria Söderberg

Maria Söderberg is Chairman of the Torsten Söderberg Foundation. She holds an MSc in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics. Previous assignments include Vice President of Business Sweden, Director of Invest Sweden and Senior Consultant at CFI Group. Current assignments include member of the Nomination Committee of Ratos’s Board of Directors, board member of Ukraine Culture Network and of En Frisk Generation.

Hans Adolfsson

Hans Adolfsson, President of Stockholm University and professor in organometallic chemistry. He studied chemistry at Stockholm University from 1985–89, and completed his doctoral studies in organic chemistry at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm in 1995. Thereafter, he held the position of postdoc at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, USA, between 1996 and 1998. He was recruited as an assistant professor to Stockholm University, and in 2007, he was installed as full professor in organometallic chemistry at the same university. During 2010-2013 he acted as Dean of chemistry, and during 2013-2016 he was appointed as Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Stockholm University. From 1 July 2016 to 31 January 2025, he held the position as Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University, and on the 1 February 2025, he took on the position as President of Stockholm University. Prof. Adolfsson is currently the chair of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF), the Swedish rectors’ conference.

Jonas Trolle

Jonas Trolle is acting director general for The Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention, (Brå), since November 2024. Brå is an agency under the auspices of the Ministry of Justice and a knowledge centre for the criminal justice system. The agency’s mandate is to contribute to the development of knowledge within the criminal justice system and the criminal policy area, as well as to promote crime prevention work.

Since 2018 he Jonas Trolle held the position as Department Head at the Swedish Centre for Preventing Violent Extremism (CVE), a part of Brå. He has a long background in policing and has held numerous leadership positions within the service, with an overall focus on human trafficking and reconnaissance.
